10/10/2008 review - The Trick is to Keep Breathing

There is a certain feeling that my reviews have been lagging, or just plain minimal. I can't say that's wrong, and I'll admit, I feel like my mind has been a thousand places at once.

No more. I'm stepping it up now. Here we go...

"Lab Class"
What exactly happened here? This sketch appeared to have a good premise but after a while I thought it was unbalanced. It may have gotten a laugh or two, yet I didn't feel the energy that a sketch like this needed.

"Office Space"
This one was a little better. There were plenty of movies that could've gotten this one, and Office Space drew the lucky number.

Nick did pretty well, as did Joel. He stands out in many ways, not just height.

"We Love Carrie"
It was okay, but I've seen this before. Not the sketch, the idea.

"Spin the bottle"
Probably one of the better sketches in Fall '08 thus far. I always like how Farce Side can take things like "spin the bottle" - something which we don't really think about these days - and refresh it into something new. The flashbacks really gave this the substance it needed.

"The Wheelchair rapist"
Did you really think that Alex in a wheelchair wouldn't be the focus of the sketch.

This was clearly the best sketch of this show.

The "News" segment, especially Audrey's monologue, great energy. I wish that energy had been present during the first-half of the show.

Being the newbie, Alex is picking up steam in her performances. Although she's the smallest on either cast, she's getting noticed big time.

My final score is 8.25 out of 10.

Look out, Alex. The Factor just said you were "getting noticed big time".
