Simply put, not only was this the best show of Fall 2008, it was also the smartest. What I mean is, the content was well-thought out. Every sketch was distinctive and stood out on its own.
The only two problems I had were with the "News," which seemed too short, and the penultimate sketch, but I'll get to that one later.
"Da prez"
Somehow, Alex Petrusek never stops surprising me. Given that Bush is on his way out - thankfully - it's better that they get in all the jokes they can. His Bush voice was priceless
Given that Bush was a dumbass, I think you can put it together.
"Entourage party"
Interestingly enough, Entourage happens to be one of my favorite shows. Of all the characters I would've picked to be gay, it would probably be "Drama". He gets laid less than the other main characters combined, and his only real relationship on the show was over a webcam, and it didn't end well.
"I will kill you"
Now this was very creative. A Powerpoint that kills. Worthy of the "Best of" show.
"Hypnosis"
In this one, Alison is trying to quit smoking, so she tries hypnosis, only to have her imagination run completely wild. No complaints here.
"Game Night"
Remember I said something about having a problem with this one? I did say that each sketch stood out, but I felt that this one was the weakest, especially when compared with the finale. I'm not saying it sucked, but not really “Best of” material.
“Not the Super Mario Bros.”
I can honestly say, without any hesitation, that this was THE best sketch of the show, and possibly the best one of Fall 2008.
Farce Side doesn’t do video game humor often, but every time they do, it kicks ass big time! This was an homage to Super Mario World, one of my favorite games. The background music and characters were done right, even a cape was included. BTW, it was yellow in the game.
My final score is 9.5 out of 10.
Just a final note. Farce Side is doing a show at U of A on November 21. It's a benefit for the Tucson Community Food Bank. Chances are, I might be going, to support FS and to make a donation.
