It was in late March 2002 that I first discovered the sketch comedy show that is Farce Side. Nine years later, I am still here.
"Let's Get It On"
I saw this, and I kept flashing back to Chris Kattan's infamous "Mango" character, who had the capacity to turn men gay for him. Of course, the last part featured the payoff.
Ryan's character is similar here, but there are some significant differences. The songs are different, and Ryan was actually trying to make people hot for him.
Could this make it into the "Best of" show? Possibly.
"Driving the conversation"
I have to say I never expected this from Danny. How does he do that strange voice?
During this scene, Danny plays the odd man out in, you guessed it, a conversation, and everyone is getting increasingly annoyed. I've seen it, a character pissing the hell out of everyone else. He wears a yellow sweater and uses a voice that is difficult to describe.
It's tricky to do this, because you need to make the character annoying without making the audience hate him/her outright. It's all about seeing everyone else's reactions.
Could we be seeing a recurring character in the weeks to come? Mr. Yellow sweater guy appeared again near the end of the show, so I would think so. Personally I wanna see how far Danny can take this.
"This sketch sucks!"
This prompted another flashback, but this time it was for a Farce Side sketch done eight years ago. Both sketches involved people breaking character, but the stories were different. The scene from 2003 featured someone speaking out against acoustic guitars, but this one had Ryan cutting the lights and yelling out, you guessed it: "this sketch sucks!"
Surprisingly, Mike Skarsten penned this, not Ryan, who was in the spotlight. An amazing ending to the show.
My final score is 9.0 out of 10.
