Ty has given me the impression that I've only been skimming the shows in these reviews lately. Let's see if we can do something about that, shall we?
"DTV converter box"
One of the things I love about sketch comedy in general is that it constantly pokes fun about everyday life. You see all these ads about TV going digital on February 17, 2009, and they talk about all these options about how to keep watching. One of them is a converter box.
We saw that one here, but this sketch - which saw a decent display of physical comedy from Nick - showed some observational comedy as well. He followed the instructions too closely, where he didn't wonder why he did stupid stuff. He was being a sheep, just going along with what's in the instructions. Sometimes you gotta question authority.
Personally, I don't always read instructions. I like to figure shit out on my own.
"Pizza bee"
Ty was impressive here. I'm just glad that the pizza slice missed hitting him in one of his eyes. He and Joel executed a great payoff.
"You're Welcome"
The first two times, Alex gets rid of a bomb. The third time, he is the bomb. 'Nuff said.
"Hooking up at a funeral"
This is one of those, "is this really happening" sketches where you can't believe the situation. It's a funeral, and someone's looking to score. I wonder how often that happens these days.
"Backseat gamer"
Don't you hate that? You're playing a game like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Halo 3, or Call of Duty 4 and someone is telling you how to play by shouting in your ear. More observational comedy, 'cept it involved death.
Patrick was exceptional here, and the Pikachu shirt helped given that he was playing Smash Bros. Joe is really proving himself as a part of Farce Side.
I prefer Mario or Sonic.
"Otter Pop"
It was good. I don't know if it was the best of the show, but still a great finish.
My final score is 9.0 out of 10.
