Two years ago on March 9, 2007, ASU's Barren Mind Improv faced U of A's Comedy Corner in a battle show to see who was the better troupe. The show was held in Room 250 in the Agriculture Building. Interestingly enough, on March 6, 2009, the same show was held again, in the exact same place only now it's called the Discovery Hall.
Barren Mind walked away the winners here, and of course I was rooting for them. You don't attend their shows for seven years without developing loyalty to them, but I have to admit I was impressed by Comedy Corner.
I don't think that U of A lost because they didn't have what it took. I've seen them in action, and they've got it where it counts, but there was one or two factors that did them in. One of them was Barren Mind's home-field advantage. Also, the more I think about It, I realized that Barren Mind won because they didn't hold anything back. That's the truth, plain and simple.
One last thing. Thank you Stacey for coming up with this idea for a battle show between Barren Mind and Comedy Corner. I'm gonna miss ya when you depart this year.
